What each version of E-Sys MAX brought: new features, improvements and fixes. The same notes you see in E-Sys MAX's What's new window. Updates install from the app in one click.
Ready-made changes and My coding are only written onto the same setting: after a module was flashed to a new version, a change saved for the old version is refused instead of landing on another setting.
Register a new battery only runs with the SVT of the connected car, never twice at once, and says "not sure" instead of "not registered" when the car did not answer in time.
Code several changes keeps its window open while modules are coding, and a module E-Sys reports an error for gets its coding file put back.
The full backup never answers an E-Sys question that has Cancel or No.
Fixed
Fault scan, module info, clearing faults and the battery check through E-Sys's own connection no longer fail with "E-Sys is still busy with an earlier question" right after a scan.
E-Sys installed on another drive (for example D:\EC-Apps) is found.
One unreadable folder no longer stops E-Sys MAX from starting.
Updating warns when another E-Sys MAX window is still open.
Problem reports always fit the size we can receive.
Buttons that are switched off now look switched off in dark mode.

Free trial Setting names no longer stay missing when a module is opened before your car is connected. They load by themselves as soon as the car is connected.
Free trial A short hiccup while E-Sys MAX saves its settings no longer makes the trial ask for the car again.
The trial banner no longer says "ended" while days are left It says what needs checking (for example, the internet).
A damaged settings file no longer stops E-Sys MAX from starting.
Better
Extra trial days we give (for example 10 more days for a helpful problem report) arrive by themselves, even when the trial had already ended.
Names made for one module version now always win over the general name for that version.
Free trial Extra trial days you get from us (for example 10 more days for a helpful problem report) now arrive by themselves, even when the trial had already ended. Just open E-Sys MAX or press Refresh.
Free trial When no setting names show, E-Sys MAX now says why: the trial's names come for its connected cars (up to 3), so connect your car in E-Sys while the PC is on the internet.
E-Sys 3.40 and older show "Not supported" on Home: they run on an old Java. Use E-Sys 22.06 or newer (we recommend 25.10).
Many more setting names About 98,000 settings now have a name, and G-series cars went from about 80% to about 90% named. They arrive by themselves when E-Sys MAX starts.
Better
Licences given for 6 months show as "6 months" in the launcher.
A trial pasted by hand is described correctly, whatever its length.
Service reset (beta) Home > Service reads engine oil, brake pads, brake fluid and the vehicle check, with what is left and when it is due, and resets the one you serviced. Needs BMW EDIABAS on the PC.
Register a new battery (beta) E-Sys MAX menu, also while E-Sys is connected. Petrol engines.
Retrofit helper (beta) Rear camera, surround view, CarPlay, head-up display, comfort access and NBT EVO, with the codes and the modules to code.
Important updates can be marked as required.
Better
Home One clean tool bar for Connection and Service, and the car is noticed as soon as the ENET cable is plugged in.
Battery badge Also works while E-Sys is connected on cars like the F10.
Updates The downloaded installer is deleted once the update is installed.
New Service reset (Home). Reads oil, brake pads, brake fluid and the other service items and resets one after the work is done. Needs BMW EDIABAS on the PC.

Retrofit helper and Register a new battery from the earlier betas.
New Retrofit helper (E-Sys MAX menu): rear camera, CarPlay, head-up display, comfort access and NBT EVO, with the option codes and the modules to code.
New Register a new battery (E-Sys MAX menu), for petrol engines.
Insert signed NCD fixed E-Sys now takes the signed file under the module's CAFD line (it refused it before), and the right-click of a module on E-Sys 25.10 shows Insert signed NCD, Module info and Restart module again.
Safer token step A mode token only counts as written when the modules report that mode, and a new Back to normal mode button puts modules back to Field mode at any time.
One coding job at a time Save and code, Code several changes and Insert signed NCD can no longer run together.
More setting explanations Thousands more settings show a plain-English line on what they do.
The E-Sys MAX menu shows the toolbar tools when the toolbar is cut off by a narrow window.
A much shorter E-Sys MAX menu. The name tools are together under Setting names, and the Backup button on the toolbar now lists Full backup of the car, Back up open files only and Open backup folder.
Includes 2.2.11: Insert signed NCD on the right-click of a module in Expert Mode > Coding (feature in testing).
Insert signed NCD is now where you code Expert Mode > Coding, read the FA and the SVT, right-click the module > Insert signed NCD... The folder window opens right away and only that module's files are shown.
A shorter E-Sys MAX menu FA helper, SVT toolbox, Cheat sheets, Fault scan and Backup are on the toolbar, so they are no longer listed twice.
Includes 2.2.10: code BMW-signed NCD 2.0 files exactly as BMW signed them, with Plant Mode and feature token packages (feature in testing).
New Insert signed NCD. Code the BMW-signed coding files (NCD 2.0) a dealer made for your car, exactly as BMW signed them. E-Sys MAX menu (or right-click the SVT) > Insert signed NCD..., choose the car's NCD folder or zip, tick the modules, press Code. E-Sys MAX checks it is the connected car, the module and its exact version before anything is sent, codes through E-Sys's own Code NCD, and reads each module back afterwards.
New Token packages. A Plant Mode or feature token package for your car is written through E-Sys's own token step, and modules left in Plant Mode can be put back to normal mode at the end.
A signed coding file is no longer saved from the editor Changing it would break BMW's signature.
Many more setting names, especially for G-series cars Parking sensors, seats, ICAM, tailgate, roof module, gearbox, iDrive controller, steering, SAS, DSC and more.
Setting names now follow the module's software version A name that is right only in some versions of a module shows only there.
Opening and saving files in E-Sys now uses the normal Windows file window (address bar, search, Quick access, recent folders) instead of Java's old window.
The free trial now works on up to 3 cars (it was one car).
CAFD editor No more stale tooltip boxes over the setting names after scrolling, and units read in lower case ("range cm").
Testers With Get beta updates on (Settings, Privacy and updates) a small BETA mark shows next to the version.
Opening and saving files in E-Sys now uses the normal Windows file window (address bar, search, Quick access, recent folders) instead of Java's old "Look in" window. It works for E-Sys's own Open and Save and for E-Sys MAX's.
CAFD editor No more stale tooltip boxes left over the setting names after scrolling with the mouse wheel.
CAFD editor Units read in lower case in the English explanation ("range cm", not "range CM").
Includes 2.2.7: setting names that follow the module's software version, about 1,100 more names on newer modules.
Setting names now follow the module's software version. A name that is right only in some versions of a module is shown only in those versions, so it never shows on a module that keeps a different setting in the same place.
This unlocks about 1,100 more setting names on newer module versions: parking sensors (USS), seat module, ICAM, tailgate, DSC, BDC, KOMBI and more.
Our Telegram channel in the launcher About > Updates has a link to @esysmax, where every update and all our news are posted first, and the About footer has Telegram news.
Better
Short news from us pops up with an Open channel button.
Fault scan while E-Sys is connected With the SVT open, faults are read and cleared and module info is read through E-Sys's own connection, also on F-series cars whose gateway lets only one program in. One module at a time, only while E-Sys is idle.
Battery badge while E-Sys is connected The voltage keeps showing, also on an F10 or through an ICOM.
Beta updates Settings > Privacy and updates > Get beta updates gives you new versions a little earlier.
Better
Windows fit small laptop screens Cheat sheets, fault scan, flash assistant, car search, coding history and the others no longer run off the bottom.
Cheat sheets Drag the bar between the list and the text to give either more room. It is remembered.
SVT Every CAFD line stands out on a coloured band with its id in bold.
Fault scan When the gateway is busy it tries for about 15 seconds, says what to do, and keeps the modules already read if the scan is cut off.
More G-series setting names get an English reading.
Faster start, and the licence card names a licence by its real length, for example 10 days.
One-click changes Eight popular ones in the FDL-Editor's ready-made list, shown only when the open module really has the setting: tyre temperatures, the video speed lock menu, one-touch windows with a door open, BMW i system sounds, front fog lights off with the high beam, the welcome screen, a sound when locking and unlocking, and the xDrive status screen.
Better
Same as BMW Each one uses BMW's own setting and value names for its module, so it lands where it belongs. E-Sys checks every value, and you can put it back.
New setting names reach your PC within 3 days (it was a week).
Every ready-made change from the community cheat sheets shows in English; the last 117 French and Korean descriptions are translated.
Buy and price screens show lifetime for $99, paid once.
News from E-Sys MAX now shows in the launcher, once, at the bottom right: new versions, new names, tips. Also for customers who are not on Telegram. Follow us on Telegram too: t.me/esysmax
Setting names Improvements.
Free trial The launcher now says clearly that the trial needs the internet while you use it (a phone hotspot is enough). A paid licence works offline.
The licence page's price list now shows 1 month $39, 1 year $59 and 3 years $99 (renew for $79), and the help texts about moving a licence mention 3-year licences.
Lifetime licences bought before keep working exactly as before.
The top licence is now 3 years for $99 ($33 a year) Every update for 3 years, priority support, and one move to a new PC. Renewing it for 3 more years costs $79. A running 1-year licence still counts: 3 years then cost $40 and start at once.
About shows a 3-year licence as "3 years, N days left", Renew opens the 3-year renewal, and Move to a new PC works for it.
Lifetime licences bought before keep working exactly as before.
E-Sys runs smoother with E-Sys MAX. With dark mode on, E-Sys MAX redrew every E-Sys window four times a second even when nothing changed, and it checked E-Sys's coding folder on E-Sys's own screen thread; with thousands of coding files that made E-Sys stutter. Now it only redraws what changed, and the folder check runs in the background.
Battery voltage on cars whose gateway allows only one connection (an F10, for one): while E-Sys is connected nothing else can read the battery, so the badge shows the last reading and how old it is. New: it reads again by itself the moment E-Sys disconnects, then every 20 seconds while E-Sys stays disconnected. It always checks it is the same car first and steps aside at once when you press Connect.
The coding question now says how old the battery reading is ("12.1 V, read 6 min ago before E-Sys connected, low. Connect a charger before coding.") instead of "not measured".
Clearing faults shows each step (clearing, then scanning again) instead of "Checking the car's VIN..." for the whole time.
Open Connection opens at its full size straight away, without a black flash.
The starting screen steps aside as soon as E-Sys's window is up.
Tooltips stay out of the way Scrolling hides them, and long ones wrap instead of running to the edge of the screen. Where a setting sits now reads "position 285" instead of byte and bit.
No more "Byte 3, bit 1" in the CAFD editor. Every setting reads as a name: BMW's name, "Reserved (not used)" for places BMW does not use, what BMW's coding rules say it is for ("Setting for option 322 - Comfort access"), or its block and number. Where it sits is still in the tooltip.
When names cannot load, the CAFD editor says why No internet, the licence was not accepted, or a connection problem to report, instead of an empty list.
A paid licence now works 14 days without internet (was 7). Connect once, then code in the garage for two weeks.
A free trial without internet says so clearly The trial needs internet, a paid licence works offline.
Setting names for offline use While E-Sys runs with internet, E-Sys MAX fetches the setting names of every module of your saved cars ahead, so they are there at the car without Wi-Fi. Nothing to press.
Newer cars that speak only DoIP The fault scan, module info and battery reading now work with them too (Open Connection rows on port 13400).
Welcome for new users Three steps from the first start to the first change, with the car connection check one click away. Open it again any time from About > First steps.
What can I code? fits more On a laptop screen the list now shows about ten ready-made changes, one line each, and folds away what you do not need while it is small.
What's new window Release notes in sections (New, Better, Fixed), with Update now right there.
Better
Fault scan Waits for the battery reading to finish before it starts, so the two no longer get in each other's way.
Fixed
Fault scan sometimes stopped with "Connection reset" When the car's gateway is busy for a moment, it now tries again by itself (up to 3 times).
